Past Lorikeets

Tribes were once known,
Lorikeets in a row
But slowly they dwindled
Colours paled,
Plumage drifted,
Eyes turned.

Raucous surrounded us
Tensuous, unknown
But with patience we
Bided our time; waited
Lovingly
For the carcasses to breathe.
